Ret. Colonel
Henry L. Whitehorn
Former Superintendent
Louisiana State Police |
The
Louisiana State Police has been involved with Camp
Win-A-Friend for over thirty years. The camp
continues to be a success allowing children every
summer to learn life skills while having fun. We
may never know exactly how many lives have been
positively influenced and redirected by the
experience, but I am sure it is a substantial
number.
I know
firsthand that positive exposure to law enforcement
officers can influence a child’s decisions well into
adulthood. When I was growing up in St. Louis, I
participated in a police-sponsored program that
turned my life around. That early experience makes
me even more committed to the continued success of
Camp Win-A-Friend so that our children can be given
a chance.
The
Louisiana State Police and the Louisiana Trooper
Foundation coordinate to properly staff and operate
the camp. With the assistance of the public, we can
all make a difference in a child’s life. |
